They're screaming on the avenue,Has it all come down to this?
Who gets to keep the Stereo?
Which book belongs to which?
The moving vans are pulling up.The scene is strangely sad.
They're nothing like the fury ofRelationships gone bad.
The atmosphere is so intense, a dirty civil war.
The roses on the picket fence have seen it all before.
Who gets to keep the silverware?
The microwave, the lamps?
His grandfather's old rocking chair
He pulls it from her hands.
They start another argument, the neighbors know the roar.
The roses on the picket fence have seen it all before.
The love they had was so immense a dozen years before.
The roses on the picket fence have seen it all before.
The house is empty for some months.
Then suddenly we seeA newly married couple come
And move in all their things.
Their happiness is evident, they're kissing at the door.
The roses on the picket fence have seen it all before.
